Nicolai, Marie and Daniel don’t have a chance. They will end up being unemployed, suffering mental illness and abuse - just like their parents. That is if you believe the reports that show how difficult it is to break out of your social heritage in Denmark.
Still, someone is trying to break the circle. At the boarding school ”The Castle” they support young teenagers from vulnerable families. 'The Survivors', a three part series, follow Nicolai, Marie and Daniel during their final year before graduation. They don’t want to repeat their parents’ patterns and with the help from the school the three teenagers discover they can actually succeed and allow themselves to have big dreams and ambitions for their futures, even if they come from the bottom rungs of society.
