In the servere winter of 1946-47 the Danish icebreakers fought a dramatic battle to get ships carrying coal and other vital supplies through to Copenhagen. The organisation of the Danish Ice-Breaking Service is described, as also the co-operation with the Swedes on the other side of the Sound.
