Actor. Born 15/4 1972. Graduated from the National School of Performing Arts in 1995.
She made her feature film debut in 'Spring Tide' (1990), for which she was awarded a Danish Bodil Award. She subsequently appeared in a variety of films throughout the '90s, such as 'Cecilia' (1991), 'Casanova' (1991), 'In China They Eat Dogs' (1999), as well as in Thomas Vinterberg’s 'The Greatest Heroes' (1996) and 'The Celebration' (1998). She also starred in the popular Danish tv series 'Taxi' (1997-1999).
Through the '00s she became one of Denmark’s most popular actors. She starred in Hans Fabian Wullenweber’s 'Gemini' (2003), Annette K. Olesen’s Dogme film 'In Your Hands' (2004), Pernille Fischer Christensen's 'A Soap' (2006) and Åke Sandgren's 'Flies on the Wall' (2005).
Later on she starred in Susanna Bier’s Oscar-winning drama 'In a Better World' (2010), Nikolaj Arcel’s Oscar-nominated period drama 'A Royal Affair' (2012) and the Danish Oscar-candidate 'You Disappear' (2017). She has also appeared in several foreign productions such as 'Nico, 1988' (2017), which won the main award in the sidebar competition Horizons at the Venice Film Festival. She won three Danish Robert Awards for her role in the Danish TV series 'The Legacy' (2014-2017).
In 2016 Dyrholm won the Silver Bear for Best Actress at the Berlinale for her role in Thomas Vinterberg’s 'The Commune'. She subsequently won both a Robert and Bodil Award for her part in the film.
In 2014 she was a part of the main jury at the Berlinale. In 2018 she served on the main jury at the Venice Film Festival.
In 2019 Dyrholm stars in Marie Grahtø Sørensens 'Psychosia' and May el-Toukhy’s 'Queen of Hearts'.
